We oversee a network of three bio-repositories in Abuja, Jos and Zaria. These bio-repositories receive, process, store, manage inventory control, package and distribute samples.
Biological specimens, tissues, tuberculosis isolates are safely handled to support researches, public health evaluation studies, clinical trials and HIV associated malignant studies.
Our biorepository supports investigators within and outside IHVN, Africans and international biomedical researchers. The central bio-repository in Abuja functions at international standards with funding support from the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant, Human Heredity and Health in Africa (H3Africa).
The other biorepositories in Jos and Zaria continue to support IHVN programs. Samples from health facilities supported by the Institute are shipped to any of the three bio-repositories for long-term storage.
All the bio-repositories use state-of-the art Freezer Works electronic software to store samples. There are also power backups to ensure an uninterrupted supply of electricity.
